(English follows below) Zoals we allemaal weten, valt of staat een club als de DCA met het enthousiasme van de vrijwilligers die het draaiende houden. Naast het bestuur zijn er diverse mensen binnen de DCA actief. Omdat het natuurlijk niet altijd van dezelfde mensen kan blijven komen, kunnen we altijd helpende handen gebruiken. Zo is er bijvoorbeeld hulp nodig bij het in elkaar zetten van de DCA nieuwsbrief voor de leden. Nu Astrid vertrokken is, kunnen we daarvoor wel wat hulp gebruiken. Ervaring is niet nodig maar wat handigheid met computers en tekstverwerkers is natuurlijk erg prettig. Ook voor andere aktiviteiten kan de DCA altijd hulp gebruiken. Wil je ook wat meer betrokken raken bij de club en meehelpen, stuur dan een berichtje naar info @ dutchinottawa.ca. The DCA needs helping hands. As we all know is the success of a club like the DCA strongly dependent of the enthusiasm of the volunteers that keep it running. Besides the board, there are other people active within the DCA. Since it can't always remain the same people that do the work, we can always use some extra helping hands. For example to put the DCA newsletter together. Now that Astrid has left, we can use some help there. You don't need a lot of experience but some affinity with computers and word processors is useful. Also for other activities and functions, the DCA can always use some help. So if you want to get a bit more involved and help out, please send a message to info @ dutchinottawa . ca 2 Tempus fugitives Steve and his buddies play again: Saturday, Feb 10 at Bass Line Station (the strip mall on Greenbank and Baseline) Sunday, Feb 18 at the Rainbow Bistro (blues bar, 76 Murray Street in the Market) and both start at 9:30 and go till the wee hours as I like to say. 3 Schaatsen op 23 februari bij GG We hebben een nieuwe datum weten te bemachtigen, we gaan het nu proberen op vrijdag 23 februari van 19.00 to 20.30 uur. Natuurlijk zorgen we voor verse koek en en warme zopie! Ingang van de Governor General's ice rink is op Princess street. De bewaking laat je binnen, als je je Friese doorlopers laat zien. We have been able to make a reservation for Friday, February 23, from 7 p.m. until 8.30 p.m. We will make sure that the koek is fresh and the zopie is hot! The guard at the princess street entrance will let you in if you show your Friese doorlopers. 4 Ski with the DCA (English follows below) Het is dan toch nog winter geworden. Dus we gaan met de DCA lekker langlaufen en wel op zondag 11 februari. We verzamelen om 9.30am op parkeerplaats P16 (Vallee Meech). Rijdt tot het einde van de 5 en ga links af bij het Tulip Motel richting Wakefield. Na ongeveer 800m moet je links een klein weggetje in (Pine Road) volg deze weg tot aan de parkeerplaats. Het is een prachtige tocht met in het begin een steile klim omhoop, maar daarna een mooie glooiende route met hier en daar een downhill. De terugweg is leuk, want die gaat lekker naar beneden. (Een route voor de 'ietwat' ervaren langlaufer. Je moet in ieder geval kunnen remmen :-) We hopen je om 9.30 op de parkeerplaats te zien. Mocht je later zijn, ski dan gewoon zelf naar de Herridge Shelter, want daar zitten we dan klaar van ongeveer 10.30am tot 11.30am met de 'koek en zopie'. Kom gewoon naar P16. Geen registratie noodzakelijk. (Als je geen pas hebt, moet je nog wel voor 10 dollar entree van het park betalen.) Cross-country ski-ing with the DCA It has become winter, so we'll go cross-country with the DCA on Sunday February 11. We will gather on parking lot P16 at 9.30am (Meech Vallee on Pine Road; go to the end of the 5 and turn left at Tulip Motel towards Wakefield. After about 800m turn left on Pine Road and the P is at the end of the road slightly on the left side.) It is a beautiful ski route for the 'somewhat experiences cross-country ski-er'. It has a fairly steep hill up in the beginning, but after that isn't very difficult with here and there a downhill. The way back to the car is fun because of going downhill for quite a bit. If you might be later, just come to the Herridge shelter. We will be sitting there from 10.30am till approx. 11.30am with the 'Koek en Zopie' ready for you to show up! No registration necessary. (If you don't have a pass, you have to pay 10 dollar for park access) 5 Bulletin Board: Apartment for rent - dog lovers welcome 1318 Leaside Avenue, (On residential street near Westgate Shopping Centre - Carling and Merivale.)
